Co-op Program

Program outline

For both accounting and financial planning students.

Target

McMillans aim is to select second and third year Accounting & Finance students studying degrees at Federation University Gippsland Campus for the Co Op program.

The Co-op program is a paid placement that gets students work and world ready, through direct connection and mentoring from McMillans professionals. The program aids in career preparation and workplace skill development and is a lead in to future employment. Selected students will access additional training to their Federation University Gippsland campus degree, as well assisting with the transition to working life upon graduation by giving them an insight into a professional services firm.

Selection Criteria

  • Desire to pursue a career in Accounting or Financial Planning

  • Be based at Federation University Australia Gippsland Campus

  • Completion of subject “Professional Identity” before students can start their placement

  • Interview

Program Features

  • Co-op students will complete a minimum of 60 days’ paid placement relevant to their course – contributing directly to course credits – either full time, part time over an extended period or in blocks embedded into their subjects.

  • Students will be supervised by a manager or staff member who understands the job’s requirements and can encourage a successful placement.

  • Students will have set learning objectives with Fed Uni Academic Advisors.

  • Hours of work will be FT (8.30-5.30). Pay rate will be based on minimum applicable standards.

  • Prepare and complete student assessment at end of placement.

Positions Available

  • Potentially two a semester if there is an ACC & FP position.

  • Positions are dependent on McMillans resources and capacity.
