Industry Placement Program


The Industry Placement Program (IPP) is an institute of Federation University Gippsland. It was developed to address the emerging skill requirements of regional organisations, whilst providing invaluable, paid work experience and academic credit to select students undertaking their chosen field of study.

Industry Profile: 

“Through IPP, we have the opportunity to develop a strong professional relationship with the student. We can also use their skills later on when they undertake longer placements, and ultimately, we hope to offer them a full time position when they finish their degree.”

Target

The Industry Placement Program (IPP) is an initiative of Federation University Gippsland. It was developed to address the emerging skill requirements of regional organisations, whilst providing invaluable, paid work experience and academic credit to select students undertaking their chosen field of study.

As one of the founding employers of the Program, McMillans is committed to commencing a IPP student each year. Students will gain an insight to work ethic and practice, and the opportunity to take up fulltime employment following the completion of their studies.

Selection Criteria

  • Selection criteria as per the Federation IPP

  • Undertaken by Federation

  • Interview with McMillans

Program Features

  • Formal (paid) study and work placement, including academic credit

  • Work experience (3 weeks during university holidays at start of 3rd year, and 22 weeks during semester at end of 3rd year)

  • Pre-selection for full-time employment

  • Optional inclusion in the McMillans Development Program

Retention

  • Criteria as per the Federation IPP

    • Must maintain a Pass (50%) results average.

    • Maximum 1 N Grade (Failure to pass, with results less than 50%) subject per annum.
